What an 0800 number costs
For your callers, nothing. Since July 2015, calls to 0800 and 0808 numbers have been free from UK mobiles as well as landlines. For you, an 0800 number starts at £6.99 a month on our Basic plan, plus number rental, which is free for the first 3 months. Calls to your 0800 number are paid by you, from the minutes in your plan.
0800 or 0808?
Both are freephone and both are free to call. 0800 is the one people recognise, so it is the first choice for most businesses. 0808 numbers work the same way and are useful when you want a particular pattern of digits that is no longer free on 0800.
Choosing a memorable 0800 number
- Look for repeated or rounded digits, for example 0800 123 4000. They are easier to remember from an advert or a van.
- Use one 0800 number per advert or campaign to see which one makes the phone ring.
- Already have an 0800 number? You can move it to Smart Numbers and keep it.
